Her story is why we began.
Darran Matthews founded The Max Foundation after losing his mother, Maxine, to breast cancer, along with other family members and family friends who have battled cancer. He created the Foundation to turn loss into action for everyone affected by cancer.
Mom’s battle was our inspiration, but our mission embraces people currently fighting, survivors, families, caregivers, and loved ones facing all cancers. We encourage screening and early detection, support research, and work toward more survivors than victims.

One conversation can make a difference.
Awareness can lead to a conversation. A conversation can lead to screening. Screening can lead to earlier detection and a better fighting chance. That possibility is at the heart of our work.

To increase cancer awareness and encourage screening and early detection, support cancer research, and develop compassionate support for people undergoing treatment.

A community where more people speak openly about all cancers, take steps toward early detection, and where patients, families, and caregivers feel supported.
